Did you know that Bond Junior High School or currently known as Bond Elementary School was founded by a woman? | WCTV

In 1935, Bond Junior High was established by Dorothy Nash Tookes, she was teaching at Dawkins Pond before she noticed that Bond Community needed an educational institution.
Another woman worth knowing is Lilyan Spencer who also became the principal in Bond Elementary School in year 1949. Aside from her primary role, she was also a math teacher, athletic director, and coach for both boys & girls junior high basketball teams.
These women behind Bond Junior High School played a pivotal role in improving the lives of generations of children in the city’s Bond Neighborhood.
