| | |  | | 🤝 FSU Collaborates with USDA NIFA on Food Safety Research. | FSNFlorida State University professors Hailey Kuang, and Prashant Singh, have each received $150,000 grants from the USDA’s National Institute of Food and Agriculture to advance food safety research. 🍚 Kuang’s project focuses on developing an AI-powered portable sensor to rapidly detect antimicrobial-resistant pathogens in meat and fresh produce, aiming to improve global food safety and educate future food safety leaders. Singh is working on a digital PCR test to quantify Salmonella in beef samples, addressing current testing limitations and aiming to create a standardized method for food processors, testing labs, and researchers. The research projects aim to enhance food safety by integrating AI and advanced testing methods, potentially benefiting consumers, food producers, and public health initiatives.

This year’s standout participants include Cyntegra (London, U.K.), LockDown Labs (Tampa, FL), and ApiaryX (Jacksonville, FL), offering innovative approaches to ransomware recovery, AI-driven security, and digital safety for families. 🛡️ Supported by the U.S. Economic Development Administration and key partners like A-LIGN, EY, Bank of America, and Cyber Florida, the program provides mentorship, training, and industry connections to help these startups thrive. The accelerator will culminate in an exciting Pitch Night on February 25th in Tampa Bay, where founders will showcase their innovations and contribute to the region’s growing reputation as a cybersecurity hub.
