FAMU VOLLEYBALL TEAM

FAMU volleyball is seeking more Rattler fans support as they aim to regain the SWAC championship. | Tal Dem

  • Recently, the FAMU volleyball team has already been leading at the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) play. Last season, the team won seven consecutive matches at the Al Lawson Center on FAMU‘s campus but out of 9,639-seat Lawson Arena, only 169 fans attended the game.

  • “It feels like we’re important to the school. We’re doing it for them,” said Tinons Galmes, a freshman from Spain on FAMU’s volleyball team. Audience matters. When supporters are present in every game they feel hyped more.

  • The FAMU Volleyball team put in a lot of effort by distributing flyers across the campus and sharing on social media. This resulted in more fans filling the previously empty seats of the arena, with the school band also joining in. The team expressed that this support is extremely beneficial to them.

  • In their most recent game, Coach Gokhan earned his 100th win, sweeping Alcorn State 3-0.

  • Here’s the 2024 Schedule and the next home game will be on Oct. 24th.

  • In a Facebook post, Somkit Thompson, who is an author and a group expert at Tallahassee Foodie FB group, praised Linda Richards and The Cake Shop Bakery. The comments also indicate that many people are fans of the bakery's products.

MARINA BROWN

“Dance With Me, Africa!” at the Anderson Brickler Gallery featured over 40 paintings by Marina Brown. | Tal Dem

  • Marina Brown uses her art to show the cultural influences from the African continent. No matter what your color is, Marina sees the contribution of Africa to many cultures.

  • American culture has become enriched by the African Diaspora, despite the forced displacement across the globe. The music, beliefs, food, and resilient spirits they bring with them are still shared. This has inspired Marina to initiate the "Dance With Me, Africa!" exhibition.

  • The exhibit started last October 4th and will run until December 30th at Anderson Brickler Gallery, 1747 S. Adams St.

"This is my second time using Main Cleaning! They offered me a great deal on Pressure Washing Services. My home needed a lot of cleaning around the gutters and was covered in nasty pollen and mold. My home looks amazing and I won’t be calling anyone else for my residential Soft Washing services. Thanks Jay!"

  • Brandy R., Tallahassee Pressure Washing + Soft Washing

"Always call Main Cleaning Solutions for my Carpet Cleaning needs! My home in Tallahassee is directly under a tree so our carpets get destroyed with leaves, mud, and twigs. Makes my carpet traffic areas gross, but Main Cleaning did such a great job! My home smells great too."
