| 🪴✨ Everglades Champion Schools’ Growing Impact Across Florida. | The Everglades Foundation The Everglades Foundation’s Everglades Literacy Program empowers the next generation of Everglades conservation stewards by providing free PreK-12 educational resources to teachers and schools across the state of Florida. Thanks to the dedication of their education team and the enthusiastic educators, the program’s impact and reach have continued to grow. 📈 Their K-12 Everglades Champion Schools program empowers schools to integrate Everglades-focused curriculum, projects, and practices into their school culture. This year, a record number of schools participated, making strides all year long to implement their Everglades literacy efforts to become a recognized Everglades Champion School. Out of 122 schools in 17 counties, 41 are new first-year participants, highlighting the program’s growing reach. This expansion shows a rising interest in environmental education and Everglades conservation, with students of all grade levels actively involved in hands-on learning and conservation efforts. Schools choose projects based on local issues, creating plans to drive change. For 2023-2024, 56% of projects focused on water quality or quantity, 25% on habitat degradation, 13% on endangered species, and 6% on invasive species in the Everglades.
