| | LOCAL SPORTS MADDY HUGGINS |
| | | 🏊 Maddy Huggins contributed wins to the FSU swimming and diving team and defeated the Georgia Bulldogs in their recent match. | Tal Dem Huggins set the new school record at the 200 breaststroke with the time of 2:07.98. She surpassed the previous school record 2:08.57 set in 2021 by Nina Kucheran. Not only did she break the school record, she also passed her week-old personal record. Aside from winning two individual events, Huggins together with junior Sarah Evans, graduate student Jenny Halden, and senior Gloria Muzito, won the 200 medley relay with the time of 1:37.62, a 0.34 seconds winning time over Georgia Tech. In the overall game, Seminoles women's team won 9 over 16 events and beat their opponent. Despite the victory they still have mixed emotions since the men's team didn’t fully make it to win.

| | HEALTH + WELLNESS KARA BUTLER |
| | | The local breast cancer survivor, Kara Butler, uses her experience to spread the importance of early detection. | WTXL At the age of 37 years old, Kara Butler didn’t expect to experience a serious health diagnosis like cancer, a Stage 2 Invasive Lobular Carcinoma to be exact. Having no family history of breast cancer she didn’t have any idea when and why it started. A regular checkup raised a red flag. She noticed a lump on her right side. Her doctor recommended several tests, including a mammogram. If she or her doctor had overlooked those early warning signs, she could have been living with cancer for more than four years. It's uncertain how far it might have spread. According to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, early detection is important because it will increase the survival rate against cancer. Butler has begun raising awareness, and with the support of Ayasha Scott from the Tallahassee Alumni Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, they organized an event named “Pamper Me Pink.” This event focused on the crucial topic of early detection, emphasizing its importance for everyone, including men.
