| | | 🐍 The FAMU homecoming week provided a significant boost to the local economy. | WTXL Since 1887, FAMU has been a cornerstone of Tallahassee. Every year, the city transforms into a vibrant display of green and orange as Rattlers from all over the country gather in Tallahassee to partake in Homecoming festivities. Last year marked the 123rd anniversary of FAMU's commitment to excellence. Homecoming continues to be a cherished tradition that brings together Rattlers of all generations for an unparalleled experience. | Visit Tallahassee Local leaders and the Rattler "Famuly" were in town for a week of good times, and their visit also benefited the local economy. FAMU’s Homecoming week reportedly generated approximately $5.1 million. 🤩 FAMU has organized around 19 events that have contributed to this impact. According to FAMU's Vice President and Director of Athletics, this initiative represents a mutually beneficial situation for both the city and the university.

| | | | | 🎉👏 Wawa is set to open its first location in Tallahassee on November 20th. | Tal Dem Wawa is a family-owned, privately held enterprise with over 200 years of experience in American business. George Wood established the Wawa dairy in 1902, rapidly earning a reputation for providing fresh, high-quality dairy products. In response to the changing demands of the community, George's nephew, Grahame Wood, launched the inaugural Wawa Food Market in Folsom, PA, on April 16, 1964. The convenience store and gas station, located at 1495 Capital Circle Northwest, will open its doors at 8 a.m. The celebration will continue with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and recognition of community partnerships at 9 a.m. Wawa is actively expanding its presence in the Panhandle and Tallahassee area, with plans to open 20 new stores in the Florida Panhandle, including 4 to 6 locations in Tallahassee, over the next 5 to 8 years. | WTXL Wawa plans to invest over $7.5 million in the construction of each store, collaborating with around 140 local contractors and partners. Once the stores are operational, they will hire about 35 associates each, contributing to the creation of hundreds of new jobs in Tallahassee and the surrounding Panhandle area.
