| 💙 The Florida Department of Education allocated more than $1 million in grants to facilitate classroom apprenticeships for education students at FAMU and TSC. | WTXL The Florida Department of Education is awarding $5 million to tackle the teacher shortage through the Pathways to Career Opportunities Grow Your Own Teacher Grant (PCOG GYO) initiative. It aims to broaden Florida's teacher apprenticeship program and reinforce the teacher pipeline by establishing avenues for prospective educators. “The Pathways to Career Opportunities Grow Your Own Teacher Grant allows aspiring educators to gain practical experience while studying to become certified teachers. Making investments like this is how Florida remains the number one state for education,” said Commissioner of Education Manny Diaz, Jr. Seven institutions across the state will be allocated these funds to improve and develop teacher apprenticeship programs. | FLDOE Florida A&M University (FAMU) is one of four institutions set to receive an additional $4,348,921 in funding to enhance their allocations for the 2023-2024 academic year and to further advance their teacher apprenticeship programs. Additionally, Tallahassee State College (TSC) is one of the new institutions that will benefit from $1,095,373 in funding through the PCOG GYO initiative.
