| FAMU Alumna, Terri Hines made history as the first person of color to lead communications for a major sports television network. | FAMU News Terri Hines inspired the audience at FAMU Homecoming Convocation in November by sharing her journey from being a business student at FAMU to leading global communications for Nike and FOX Sports. Hines, a Washington, D.C. native, spent four years as director of global communications for Nike’s Jordan Brand, leading campaigns and events for its premium athletic products and top athletes like Chris Paul, Carmelo Anthony, Dwyane Wade, and Derek Jeter. As FOX Sports’ chief spokesperson, Hines leads communications and social responsibility strategies for the sports television arm of the FOX Corporation. She also praised her co-broadcasters who are HBCU alumni including FAMU’s Pam Oliver, a FOX NFL reporter. “The road to success is not a straight line; it’s winding, and I can’t tell you how many times I stumbled. But I learned to rise each time, fueled by my passion, the lessons learned, and the love from this esteemed university,” said Terri Hines.
