Despite a disastrous football season, there are plenty of positives for alumni to be proud of. | FSU News 🏆 National Rankings: FSU achieved its highest-ever position, ranking No. 10 among Top Public Universities in America by Niche, secured the No. 1 spot for student satisfaction among public universities from The Princeton Review, and maintained as a Top 25 public institution in the U.S. News & World Report rankings. 🎓 Record Graduation Rates: FSU set new highs with a four-year graduation rate of 76% and a six-year rate of 88%. 🏥 FSU Health Academic Center: A groundbreaking ceremony of 140,000 sq. ft. academic health center with clinical research, labs, and family residency practice in partnership with TMH. 🔬 Research Expenditures: The university reported nearly $455M in research expenditures, underscoring its dedication to innovation and scholarly pursuits. 2nd Annual Discovery Days: FSU celebrated research and creativity, reaching nearly 2,500 people. Highlights included the Pediatric Rare Disease Symposium, discussions on collaborative solutions, and a showcase of entrepreneurship with a new business incubator. The Discovery Challenge, a "Shark Tank" - style competition, awarded $110,000 in prizes to three startups.💲 💸 IGNITE FSU Helps Researchers: FSU was 1 of 18 universities nationwide to receive a first-of-its-kind award from the National Science Foundation. 🫂 A Legacy of Giving: FSU celebrates alumna, dedicates Anne Spencer Daves College of Education, Health, and Human Sciences. | Learn More 👏🏻 Faculty Excellence: Dr. Alma Littles was named permanent dean of FSU's College of Medicine after serving as interim dean. She had been senior associate dean for nearly 20 years. Prof. Harrison Prosper, a professor in Physics since 1993, was awarded the 2024-2025 Robert O. Lawton Distinguished Professorship, a top honor from FSU faculty. Scotty Barnhart, College of Music professor and jazz trumpeter, won his third Grammy at the 66th Annual Grammy Awards on Feb. 4. Professor Hui “Helen” Li and Professor Longya Xu from the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering were named Fellows of the National Academy of Inventors for their impactful inventions that enhance quality of life and society. Martin Munro, director of the Winthrop-King Institute, received a 2024 Guggenheim Fellowship for his project exploring sound in the works of four French-speaking global artists. 💗 Community Engagement and Impact: FSU received its largest state appropriation ever in the 2024 legislative session, including nearly $83 million for capital projects. The university also dedicated the new home of its Native American and Indigenous Studies Center during Homecoming Week, with a celebration attended by FSU leaders and members of the Seminole Tribe. The Capital Region Real-Time Crime Center (CRRTCC), based at FSU, was named Center of the Year by the National Real-Time Crime Center Association for its innovative crime prevention and response efforts in its first year. 🏈 Sports: FSU ranked 12th in the Annual Learfield Director’s Cup standings, its highest in 5 years, with strong athletic performance and the two best academic semesters in school history.
