The U.S. Department of Transportation's Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) Airport Infrastructure Grants (AIG) program, backed by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, is putting $332 million into enhancing airport and air traffic control infrastructure. These AIG funds are available for various projects, including airport planning, development, sustainability efforts, terminal expansions, upgrades to baggage systems, improvements in runway safety, and initiatives for noise compatibility. It has granted 171 awards across 32 states to help modernize airports. The $6.7M grant will support the development of a new Taxiway B11, Taxiway B12, and the necessary lighting. Taxiway Bravo will also undergo rehabilitation to reduce foreign object debris, extending its useful life and safety. "The Tallahassee International Airport's economic impact and passenger traffic continue to grow year-over-year, with no signs of slowing down, which underscores the importance of our efforts to secure these grant dollars now – the timing is perfect," said David Pollard, director of Aviation for the City of Tallahassee. "Through our terminal modernization project, runway improvements, parking enhancements and more, we are committed to providing a world-class travel experience."
