| | | 🤝 FSU and Samsung Partner to Develop Smart Health Home for Aging Adults. | FSU News FSU’s College of Nursing and Institute on Digital Health and Innovation have joined forces with Samsung Electronics America to create a Smart Health Home at Latitude Margaritaville Watersound, a 55+ community in Bay County, Florida. The initiative is designed to support proactive health and wellness monitoring for aging adults using Samsung’s SmartThings IoT platform and Health AI technologies. The collaboration stems from a recent partnership with Minto Communities USA, Margaritaville Holdings, and the St. Joe Company, bringing together expertise in health care, technology, and community living. The project will serve as a research-backed model for how smart home technology can improve health outcomes and quality of life for older populations. 👥 The Smart Health Home will integrate sensors, automation, and connected devices to create a seamless and responsive care environment. With virtual care capabilities and insights derived from real-time data, the space aims to empower residents to manage their health daily from the comfort of home. FSU’s involvement extends beyond nursing, leveraging its multidisciplinary FSU Health umbrella and commitment to innovation in digital health. The university is recognized for its pioneering role in AI-driven health care education and research, including the only Master of Science in Nursing program in the U.S. focused on AI applications. Scheduled to open in mid-2025, this initiative reflects a broader mission to redefine home-based wellness. Both FSU and Samsung see this as the first step toward expanding smart health homes into more communities, promoting proactive, tech-enabled aging-in-place strategies nationwide. 🌐
