Our city’s bus system just scored more funding from the FTA – maybe this will help out StarMetro to stay on schedule.😏 FSU continues to rake in the awards, and CareerSource Capital Region expanded its services to Jefferson County. Good news all around!

GRANT FOR TLH

The City of Tallahassee was awarded $11.3 million in federal funds. Tallahassee was among only 117 projects nationwide to receive this federal funding. | WTXL

  • More than $11.3 million grant for Tallahassee was from the Federal Transit Administration for StarMetro, the city's bus system, to support its goal of achieving a fully electric fleet by 2035.

  • Funds will be used to purchase 8 electric buses, expand essential charging infrastructure and support workforce development programs to maintain the city's growing electric fleet.

  • This funding adds to the $36 million in federal grant funding StarMetro received in 2023 to support construction of the Southside Transit Center.

  • Starting July 1st, Jefferson County businesses and career seekers will benefit from enhanced workforce services from CareerSource Capital Region. This move by the State of Florida aims to streamline talent development and training solutions, ensuring support for the local economy.

FSU is the top-ranked ‘Best Value’ public college in Florida, No. 16 in the nation by The Princeton Review. | FSU News

  • Florida State University’s rise in the rankings is a direct reflection of our unwavering focus on reducing financial barriers and prioritizing student success,” said FSU President Richard McCullough. “We are honored to be recognized as the top public institution in Florida for making higher education accessible and valuable to all students, regardless of their background.”

  • The Princeton Review surveyed more than 650 colleges and universities for the Best Value Colleges 2024 list. The schools earning a place on the list received the highest return on investment (ROI) ratings, which are based on the company’s more than 40 data points covering academics, affordability and career preparation.

  • The Princeton Review also included FSU in the Top 20 among public schools for Best Alumni Networks at No. 14, up two spots from the previous year.
