  • Report Submission: State regulators will submit a report by April 2025 on the possibility of adding more nuclear power in Florida.
  • Technological Advances: Advances in technology and efforts to reduce carbon emissions have renewed interest in nuclear power.
  • Current Generation: Nuclear plants currently generate about 13% of Florida's electricity, operated by Florida Power & Light.

Central Florida Expressway Authority is using innovative autonomous technology to monitor road debris in real time, ensuring safe and clean roadways for drivers while keeping their identities anonymous. 🌍 | GovTech

  • Autonomous Devices: CFX uses four autonomous devices similar to dashcams to monitor road debris in real time.
  • Cost Efficiency: The system costs $24,600 annually and has helped identify road problems faster for quicker fixes.
  • Impact-Detection Sensors: CFX is utilizing impact-detection sensors to monitor guardrail damage and collisions on roads.

CROWDSTRIKE’S FLAWED UPDATE

A flawed update from CrowdStrike caused worldwide Microsoft outages, disrupting hospitals, airlines, 911 services, and banks. 🌍 | GovTech

  • Flawed Update: CrowdStrike's update caused Windows machines to crash globally.
  • Impact in Florida: Florida's emergency services and several banks experienced significant disruptions.
  • Local Response: Some Floridians deleted CrowdStrike from their systems to resolve the issue
  • Faulty Patch: The issue affected machines running the Falcon Sensor product.
  • Resolution: CrowdStrike issued a fix; manual intervention needed for some endpoints.
