On this Debby downer Monday, here’s a little pick-me-up. Explore the exciting world of Virtual Pitch Competition, where your ideas and business could get extra funding. TLH AIRPORT

Planes flying in and out of Tallahassee for 110 years fueled the city's growth. 🛩️ | Tal Dem

  • In 1914, the Daffin Theater brought in a person to give short tours around the city. For $15, people could get a bird's eye view of the hilly landscape of Tallahassee from a field at the northeast corner of Magnolia Drive and Park Avenue.

  • According to city spokesperson Alison Faris, Tallahassee International Airport currently sees almost 1 million passengers a year who travel over 150,000 scheduled flights. This includes 1.3 million pieces of luggage in 2023.

  • From 1914 to 2024, Tallahassee has had 6 airfields. The first municipal airport opened on Nov. 10, 1929, and was named Dale Mabry Field in honor of a Tallahassee native World War I pilot. The airport was located off West Pensacola Street, between today's Mabry Street and Appleyard Drive.
